The Duxbury Rotary Club has been serving our community since 1950.
We believe strongly in the Rotary philosophy of "Service Above Self." Our members give their time each week to raise funds for worthy projects, stay on top of issues facing the community, and do what we can to make life better for people here and around the world. We have fun doing it, too. Our club meets each Tuesday morning at 7:00 am at the Duxbury Senior Center at the corner of Tremont (3A) and Mayflower Streets.
We're a small club in a small town, but we accomplish a lot! Last year we cleaned-up local highways, gave scholarships to graduating seniors, helped the Interfaith Council buy holiday food baskets for needy families, hosted the town's Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony, and completed construction of a school for girls in Afghanistan.
We're particularly proud of our work in Afghanistan. Led by Past President Razia Jan, an Afghan native, we hosted two events featuring Khaled Hosseini, author of the best-selling novels The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. An amazing outpouring of support helped us raise over $150,000, enough to build The Zabuli Education Center, a free school for girls and women in the community of Deh'Subz.

Denied access to education by the Taliban, girls in a now free and democratic Afghanistan are hungry for education. Because of our efforts, hundreds of girls will have a chance for an education, and with it, a better life. To learn more about how you can help, visit www.thezabulischool.org.
